Evening time in Pakistani homes is particularly the best time to enjoy tea and snacks with the family members. Relaxant and super comfortable couches in sitting area and nice aroma coming from kitchen of freshly baked cookies specially freshly roasted aromatic cumin cookies, is oh so heavenly.

I love baking. I just love it. No matter how lengthy the procedure is and how tiring it gets if end result turns out well all the efforts to me are worthy.
Since few days or may be weeks close friends of mine were after me to bake for them bakery style zeera cookies. The one we have cherished our entire childhood. I was OK with it but matter of fact, Ahhh i literally wasn’t getting a bit of time to mix and bake. But Oh man how can i forget and not miss those cherishable favourite tea time Roasted Aromatic Cumin Cookies. Boosted up myself and there I go..Hurrah..!!
One thing that i love about baking is..ummm… to me it really work as antidepressant and a mind changer. I bake variety of stuff from cakes to cookies to croissants and list goes on. However I am yet to experience and try many of untouched recipes that I’ve written and saved God knows when.
So finally this past Friday I baked good enough roasted aromatic cumin cookies with a full swag, invited my friends over the tea and had fun. It was worth it, too easy and simple with minimal ingredients and took us all back to our wonderful childhood memories.
Sometimes, I believe all you need is sit back, have friends, nice cup of tea and freshly baked cookies serves like cherry on the top.
Cumin is a spice with a very distinctive flavor, i was a bit confused about the quantity I used in my cookies. But to my surprise everyone simply loved it. I baked almost 3 dozens which literally were gone in less than 15 minutes. Not exaggerating literally this happened..yayyyy 😀

These Roasted Aromatic Cumin Cookies are easy to make and got a perfect balance of salt and sugar in it. Crispy, Light and bakery style aroma what else one want in home’s comfort zone.

- 2 cup all purpose flour
- 150 gm salted butter(room temp)
- 1 egg (room temp)
- 2 Tbsp roasted cumin seeds
- 150 gm castor sugar
- 1 Tsp baking powder
- Pinch of salt
- Start with Creaming butter and sugar till nice and creamy
- Add in egg Beat nicely
- Then fold in cumin seeds and other dry ingredients
- Knead gently to make a soft dough
- Cut out desired shape using cookie cutter
- Place cookies on baking tray ready with a foil base nicely greased
- Bake at 160-170 in preheated oven for about 10 min till nice golden
- Place them on a wire rack to cool and then Enjoy.
- You can store them for up to a week in air tight glass jars.
