London: England’s Jofra Archer continued his great form as rain washed out first ODI. Jofra Archer conceded only six runs in his four overs with a wicket. Pakistan was 80-2 in 19 overs with Imam and Haris at the crease before the match was called off at 7:11 pm.
England captain Eoin Morgan after winning the toss asked Pakistan to bat first. Toss was already delayed due to a wet field. Archer started a beautiful maiden over to Imam by moving the ball away from the left-hander. It was not long when Fakhar Zaman edged to test skipper in the slip.
Babar Azam came at the crease but he edged one to wicketkeeper after scoring 16 with three handsome boundaries. The last before the ran saw a turnaround when wicketkeeper Buttler missed a chance to stump Haris Sohail off Adil Rashid.
Jofra Archer showed a glimpse of what he is capable of. He made his ODI debut against Ireland and then t20i debut against Pakistan. It seems that he might get a place in the world cup squad with that kind of performance. Pakistani batsmen once again disappointed with their batting.
The second ODI will be played on Saturday at Southampton.
